Aurora Australis Paints the Skies Over Victoria
Last night, the magical hues of the Aurora Australis, also known as the Southern Lights, were visible over the beautiful Taungurung lands in central Victoria. Captured by a dedicated astrophotographer, this event offered a rare and stunning spectacle for those fortunate enough to witness it.
A Night of Anticipation and Fleeting Beauty
Around 8 PM in Victoria, the photographer positioned themselves on a familiar hilltop, hoping for a repeat of recent aurora displays. The plan was to catch the lights as they crept across the sky from the southeast. However, the weather presented a challenge, with clouds obscuring much of the view. Despite the intermittent cloud cover, the photographer was still treated to glimpses of the aurora, with naked-eye beams flickering and shifting through the gaps. This particular frame was captured during a brief clear spell, showcasing the mesmerizing dance of the lights.
