The Buck Moon: A Glimpse of Our Celestial Neighbor
Last night, the celestial canvas was graced by the magnificent Buck Moon, and astrophotographers were ready to capture its ethereal beauty.
This stunning image was brought to life using a combination of high-quality equipment and meticulous processing. The journey began with the powerful SVBony SV48p telescope, paired with the Skywatcher StarAdventurer GTi for precise tracking.
The captured light was then processed through the sensitive ZWO ASI 678MC camera, ensuring every detail of the lunar surface was preserved. The final magic happened during post-processing, where tools like PiPP, Autostakkert 4, and Registax 6 were employed. This resulted in a stacked image from an impressive 85% of 7,000 captured frames, revealing incredible lunar detail.
The Buck Moon, also known as the Thunder Moon, Strawberry Moon, or Mead Moon, holds its name from the time of year when male deer (bucks) begin to grow their new antlers. It's a beautiful reminder of the cyclical nature of our planet and its connection to the cosmos.
