Night in the Joshua Tree Junkyard
Junked cars are probably not the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Joshua Tree National Park, but this hidden gem was a total blast to shoot... and not the least bit creepy at night! Ha!
This shot was captured using a full spectrum modified Canon R5 with various filters.
Technical Details:
- Foreground: Multiple 30-second exposures, f/8, ISO 800 using a visible light filter.
- Sky: Tracked / Stacked 210-second exposures, f/2.8, ISO 1600 using specialized astronomy filters.
The Visible Light Filter Explained:
For those curious about the visible light filter on the foreground, it's essential when using a full spectrum camera. Without it, the captured image can appear as a strange mess. By using a visible light filter, the camera is essentially reverted to its stock imaging capabilities, allowing for clear and focused foregrounds.
It's truly amazing how different photographers can capture seemingly the same scene and produce such unique, beautiful, and mystifying images. Astrophotography has become a new passion, and sharing these moments is a joy. Thank you for looking!
