M15: A Glimpse into a Globular Cluster
This breathtaking image showcases Messier 15 (M15), a truly spectacular globular cluster. Captured under Bortle 4/5 skies in Germany, this deep-sky object offers a glimpse into the ancient and densely packed stellar populations that populate our galaxy.
Imaging Details
- Conditions: Bortle 4/5 skies, observed around 2:43 AM on July 21, 2025.
- Acquisition: 34 light frames were captured to build this image.
The Gear Behind the Shot
The astrophotographer utilized the following equipment to capture M15:
- Telescope: Omegon Telescope Pro CC 114/1368 OTA
- Camera: Player One Neptune C
- Mount: Star Adventurer GTI
- Guiding: Enabled for precise tracking
Despite the challenges of a "horrible collimated" SCT telescope, the dedication to capturing this target is evident.
Processing Workflow
Post-processing was carried out using:
- SharpCap: For initial image capture and live stacking.
- Siril: For further processing, stacking, and enhancement.
This combination of capture and processing tools allowed for the extraction of the fine details and rich colours present in Messier 15.
