Lunar Image Identification: Can You Pinpoint This Moon Crater?
We recently came across a fascinating post from the astrophotography community where a user shared a beautiful image of the Moon, taken with a 127 MAK telescope and a 9mm eyepiece. While the image itself is impressive, the photographer is struggling to identify the specific lunar region captured.

The Challenge:
The photographer captured this image on April 9th-10th of this year using a 127 MAK telescope and a 9mm eyepiece with eyepiece projection. The image is a stacked video processed in Autostakkert. Despite reviewing their captures, they're having trouble pinpointing the exact location on the lunar surface.
Community Spotlight:
Fortunately, the power of shared knowledge shone through! A fellow astrophotographer quickly identified the area as likely being around the Janssen crater. This kind of collaborative identification is a testament to the passion and expertise within the astronomy community.
What's Next?
While the Janssen crater is a strong candidate, we encourage anyone with expertise in lunar cartography or astrophotography to weigh in. Identifying specific features on the Moon can be challenging due to libration and the subtle details captured.
