The magic behind this shot was made possible by a carefully selected setup: a Sony a7iii camera paired with a Rokinon 135mm f1.8 lens. These tools were pushed to their limits under pristine, Bortle class 2 skies, a condition often sought after by those who wish to capture the faintest celestial details. The capture involved 200 individual exposures of 2.5 seconds each, all taken at the wide aperture of f1.8 and an ISO of 3200. To further enhance the data and minimize noise, a meticulous collection of 20 darks, flats, and biases were also acquired.
One of the most impressive aspects of this capture is that it was achieved untracked. This means the photographer relied on the sheer duration of individual shots and the power of stacking software to compensate for the Earth's rotation, a truly impressive feat.
The Art of Processing
Once the raw data was gathered, the journey continued in the digital darkroom. The image was painstakingly stacked and processed using Siril, a powerful open-source astrophotography software. The workflow included several critical steps:

- Background Extraction: Removing unwanted background gradients and light pollution.
- Photometric Color Calibration: Accurately balancing the colors in the image.

- GHS Stretching: Applying a generalized hyperbolic stretch to reveal faint details.
