Warner Springs Astrophotography: A Photography Class Triumph
For my final photography class project, I ventured to the beautiful Warner Springs to capture the magic of the night sky. It was an incredible opportunity to experiment with different techniques and push my creative boundaries.
Image 1: The Vast Expanse
This first image was all about capturing the sheer scale and wonder of the cosmos. I aimed for a broad view, letting the stars paint their own story across the darkness.
Camera: Canon EOS Rebel T3i Lens: EF-S18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II Exposure: 20 seconds ISO: 3200 Aperture: f/3.5
Image 2: A Masked Sky, A Balanced Scene
For the second image, I wanted to achieve a more balanced composition by separating the sky and foreground. This required a bit more technical finesse, using a masking technique to ensure both elements were perfectly exposed.
Camera: Canon EOS Rebel T3i Lens: EF-S18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II Exposure: Foreground: 241 seconds, Sky: 10 x 10 seconds ISO: Foreground: 400, Sky: 6400 Aperture: f/4.0
I'm thrilled with how these images turned out and what I learned throughout this process. It's amazing what you can capture when you blend a passion for photography with the breathtaking beauty of the universe.
