Australia boasts some of the most incredible dark skies in the world, and this image taken in the Blue Mountains, New South Wales, is a testament to that. Revisiting a location the photographer considers their personal 'Tree of Life,' this shot offers a spectacular view of the Milky Way.
Behind the Lens: Crafting the 'Tree of Life II'
The photographer approached this scene with meticulous detail, setting up just centimeters from the cliff edge. To achieve this panoramic masterpiece, they kept the tripod fixed and strategically swapped cameras and lenses. The result is a seamless blend of the celestial and terrestrial, a true work of art.
Technical Details:
- Sky: Captured with a Canon R8 (Astromod) using a 35mm f/2 lens. The exposure consisted of 12 shots at ISO 640 for 60 seconds each, all tracked with a Benro Polaris.
- Foreground: Shot on a Canon R5 with a 15mm f/3.5 lens. Each panel of the foreground was a stack of 2 exposures at ISO 5000 for 90 seconds, with a total of 8 panels combined.
