The First Milky Way Core of the Season!
As the astronomical season kicks off, I'm thrilled to share my first capture of the majestic Milky Way core! This image was taken in the captivating landscape of Death Valley, known for its dark skies and dramatic foregrounds, making it an ideal spot for astrophotography.
This panoramic shot is a result of careful planning and execution. Here's a glimpse into the technical details behind this capture:
Sky Acquisition:
- Camera: Sony A7III (astro-modified)
- Mount: Benro Polaris (tracked)
- Exposure: 8 tracked images, each at 60 seconds
- Aperture: f/2
- ISO: 1250
Foreground Acquisition:
- Exposure: 8 images, each at 60 seconds
- Aperture: f/2.8

The combination of tracking for the sky and multiple exposures for the foreground allowed us to bring out the incredible detail of our galaxy against the unique desert terrain. The pilgrimage to Death Valley was well worth it for these incredible skies!
