  • Camera: ASI2600MM
  • Off-Axis Guider (OAG): ZWO OAG
  • Guide Camera: ASI220mini
  • Filters: Optolong SHO (Sulphur, Hydrogen-alpha, Oxygen filters)

This combination of high-quality equipment allows for the capture of faint details and vibrant colors, crucial for revealing the nebula's subtle features.

The Process: Integration and Processing

This image is the result of an impressive 5.5 hours of integrated exposure time. This lengthy capture period is essential for gathering enough light from faint deep-sky objects. The acquisition was performed under a Bortle 6 sky in Kentucky, indicating a moderately light-polluted environment, which makes the processing even more impressive.

The post-processing was meticulously carried out using Pixinsight, a powerful software suite favored by astrophotographers for its advanced tools in image calibration, alignment, stacking, and enhancement. The use of SHO filters allows for a false-color representation, often used in astrophotography to highlight specific emission lines from different gasses, creating the iconic "Hubble palette" appearance.
