Teide National Park: A Journey into the Darkest Skies

Teide National Park in Tenerife is renowned for its dramatic landscapes, but it's also a hidden gem for astronomers and astrophotographers. Recently, a stunning single shot from this location has captivated viewers, showcasing the raw beauty of the night sky.

Teide National Park Night Sky

This incredible image was captured using a Fujifilm GFX 100s with the native GF20-35 f4 lens. With a 30-second exposure at ISO 3200 and f4, the photographer managed to bottle the essence of one of the darkest places they've ever experienced.

"It’s unreal. Can’t help but look up," the photographer shared, highlighting the profound impact of the unpolluted skies. While the creator intends to explore stacking techniques for foreground detail on future visits, this single shot perfectly captures a mesmerizing silhouette of the landscape against the vibrant Milky Way.

For anyone passionate about night and landscape photography, Teide National Park comes highly recommended. Beyond its celestial wonders, the island of Tenerife itself offers a fantastic holiday experience.

First Impressions: Fujifilm GFX 100s in Low Light

When asked about the performance of the Fujifilm GFX 100s in low light, the response was overwhelmingly positive. "I was surprised. This is my first time using it in real low light (night sky shooting) and it was way beyond expectations," the photographer stated. The camera delivered an astonishing amount of detail, even with settings like ISO 3200 and 4000.

While the experience underscored the importance of faster lenses for future shoots, the GFX 100s proved itself a capable tool for capturing the cosmos. The photographer emphasized the value of always using a tripod with the GFX, regardless of lighting conditions, which aids in achieving such detailed results.

The subtle yet vivid colors present in the photograph have been particularly praised, creating a wonderful 3D effect that truly makes the subject pop. It's a testament to both the camera's capabilities and the photographer's skill in harnessing the magic of the night.
