Our Cosmic Connection: A Global Survey on the Night Sky

Hello stargazers and sky watchers!

As a researcher and amateur astrophotographer from the University of Derby, UK, I'm excited to invite you to participate in a fascinating study. We're exploring how people feel about the night sky and whether they experience a sense of connection to it.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to scientific understanding, regardless of your prior interest or experience with astronomy. The survey is open to anyone, anywhere in the world, who is 18 years or older.

Why Participate?

We believe that our relationship with the night sky is deeply personal and can evoke a wide range of emotions and thoughts. This study aims to capture these diverse perspectives. Your responses will help us understand what the cosmos means to people across the globe.

The Survey Details

  • Duration: The survey takes approximately 7 minutes to complete, though some may find it takes a little longer.
  • Accessibility: Open to everyone aged 18+ worldwide.

A Glimpse of the Cosmos

To give you a little inspiration, here's a stunning image of the Andromeda Galaxy (M31), captured under UK Bortle 5 skies. This photo was taken using an HEQ5 mount, William Optics ZS61, Nikon D5600, with no filter, and a 2.5-hour integration time (30-second subs at ISO 400). It was processed using DSS and GIMP.
