A truly spectacular display of nature's artistry unfolded over Vancouver, Canada, on the night of October 10, 2024. During a powerful solar storm, the sky erupted in a vibrant dance of the aurora borealis.
This incredible 3x8" vertical panorama was captured looking south towards the city lights, offering a unique perspective on this celestial phenomenon. The photographer utilized a 24mm lens at an aperture of F2 and an ISO of 400 to immortalize this breathtaking moment.
The aurora borealis, often called the Northern Lights, is a natural light display in the Earth's sky, predominantly seen in high-latitude regions. It is caused by disturbances in the magnetosphere caused by solar wind. These disturbances, when they are strong, can stretch across the entire sky and be seen from Vancouver.
