This is NGC 6888, the magnificent Crescent Nebula, captured from my own backyard in Boston on June 23, 2025. Often nicknamed the 'Space Brain' due to its striking appearance, this nebula is a fantastic target for astrophotographers.

Capturing celestial objects like the Crescent Nebula requires dedicated equipment and significant processing time. Here's a look at the gear and techniques that brought this image to life:

  • Telescope: Askar 71F
  • Camera: ZWO ASI2600MC Pro
  • Exposure: 33 x 300-second exposures (totaling 2 hours and 45 minutes)
  • Filter: Optolong L-eXtreme
  • Mount: CEM 40
  • Guiding: Svbony 60mm guide scope with QHY5-III 178m guide camera
  • Capture Software: NINA
  • Processing Software: Pixinsight
