NGC 6888: First Light with a New Mount
It's always an exciting moment when new gear makes its debut, and this capture of NGC 6888 is no exception! This stunning image represents the first light from a new equatorial mount, an upgrade from a previous setup that was running in EQ mode.
The Crescent Nebula, NGC 6888, is a beautiful emission nebula located about 5,000 light-years away in the constellation Cygnus. It's a fascinating object to observe and image, known for its intricate structure and vibrant colors.
This particular capture was made possible by a new, enthusiastically termed 'Aliexpress special' Juwei 14 mount. The image was acquired over two nights, highlighting the dedication and patience often required in astrophotography. The upgrade from an AZ-GTI mount running in EQ mode has clearly yielded impressive results, as seen in the clarity and detail of this photograph.
