A Celestial Spectacle: Milky Way Panorama Over an Abandoned House
Last weekend, on May 26, 2024, under the vast skies of Northeast New Mexico, a truly remarkable moment was captured. The result is this incredible panorama showcasing the Milky Way in all its glory, framed by the haunting silhouette of an abandoned house.
This awe-inspiring image was brought to life using a Sony A7iv camera paired with a 16-35mm lens, set at 22mm. The photographer utilized an aperture of F2.8, a 15-second exposure, and an ISO of 10000. To achieve such a wide and detailed view, the shot was composed of eight vertical panels, meticulously stitched together.
The photographer mentioned a race against time, rushing to capture as much of the celestial display as possible before the moon rose, and the resulting light certainly evokes the feeling of an approaching sunrise. The sheer density of stars and the vibrant band of our galaxy are a testament to the power of astrophotography and the beauty that awaits us when we look up.
This image serves as a powerful reminder of our place in the universe and the incredible natural wonders that surround us, even in seemingly desolate landscapes. It's a moment frozen in time, where the earthly and the cosmic converge.
