Mare Crisium: A Glimpse of Lunar Detail
Happy New Year, fellow stargazers! Today, we're diving into a stunning capture of Mare Crisium, a captivating feature on our very own Moon.
This incredible image was taken using a Celestron Powerseeker 60AZ telescope paired with a 4mm lens, and an iPhone 15. The post-processing was then expertly handled in Adobe Lightroom, bringing out the subtle details of the lunar surface.
Mare Crisium, meaning 'Sea of Crises', is one of the most prominent dark basaltic plains on the Moon's near side. Its relatively smooth surface contrasts beautifully with the surrounding rugged terrain, making it a fantastic target for amateur astronomers.
It's always inspiring to see what can be achieved with accessible equipment and a passion for the cosmos. This shot is a testament to that, offering a clear view of this fascinating lunar mare.
Keep looking up!
