Light Up The Sky: A Night Under the Milky Way
Do you ever have those moments where you feel like you're radiating main character energy? This was one of mine. This incredible shot was taken a year ago when I had the privilege of introducing my brother-in-law to the awe-inspiring spectacle of the Milky Way for the very first time.
It's a special kind of joy sharing the wonders of the universe with someone new. The challenge? Teaching him the 'super advanced' skill of setting a 10-second timer and then making a mad dash into the frame to hold still for dear life. The result? Pure magic.
This image is a single exposure, captured with a Sony A7R3 and a Rokinon 24mm f1.4 lens. The settings were dialed in for an f/2 aperture, a 13-second exposure, and an ISO of 1600, perfectly balancing light gathering with minimal noise. The image was then meticulously edited using Adobe Lightroom Classic to bring out the full brilliance of the celestial display.
The location for this breathtaking capture was the iconic Trona Pinnacles. It's a place that truly comes alive under a dark sky, and many fellow astrophotographers share a deep appreciation for its unique landscape. It offers an incredible canvas for capturing the cosmos, especially when making a journey along the 395.
