How Does the Night Sky Connect Us? A Global Survey for Everyone!

Andromeda Galaxy

Have you ever gazed up at the vast expanse of stars and felt a sense of wonder, peace, or even a deep connection to something larger than yourself? You're not alone. Researchers from the University of Derby, UK, are embarking on an exciting global study to explore these very feelings and how people relate to the night sky.

This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone, anywhere in the world, to contribute to scientific understanding. Whether you're a seasoned astronomer who spends hours stargazing or someone who rarely looks up, your perspective is valuable.

What's Involved?

The study is designed to be brief and accessible. It involves completing a short survey that should take approximately 7 minutes once you've given your consent. The survey is voluntary, and there's no pressure to participate if you prefer not to.

How Can You Join?

If this sounds like something that sparks your curiosity, you can participate by following this link:

A Glimpse of the Cosmos

The accompanying image, a stunning view of the Andromeda Galaxy (M31), was captured in the UK under Bortle 5 conditions. This beautiful shot was taken using a William Optics ZS61 telescope, a D5600 camera, with no filter, and a 2.5-hour integration time from 30-second subs. It was processed using DSS and GIMP.

This research offers a unique chance to reflect on our personal relationship with the cosmos and contribute to a broader understanding of how the night sky impacts us all. Your participation matters!
