Half Moon: A Southern Hemisphere Crescent Captured

A breathtaking view of the crescent moon, as observed from the Southern Hemisphere in Brazil, graces us with its ethereal glow. This celestial spectacle was captured through the lens of a dedicated astrophotographer, highlighting the intricate details of our nearest cosmic neighbor.

The Journey of the Image:

This exquisite image is the result of a passion for the night sky and a dedication to capturing its wonders. The photographer utilized a homemade 130mm f5 telescope, a testament to their ingenuity and commitment to the hobby. The captured light was then processed through a modified Canon t2i camera, known for its capabilities in astrophotography.

To track the moon's movement with precision, a Celestron logic drive motor was employed for right ascension. The final image is an impressive composite, built from 292 individual photos that were meticulously aligned and stacked in Siril. Further refinements and artistic touches were applied using Adobe Lightroom, bringing out the full beauty of the lunar crescent.
