Gibbous Waning Moon Through Brazilian Skies
This winter in Brazil has been anything but usual. Instead of the typical cold and dry conditions, we're experiencing a much colder and cloudier season. Despite these challenging atmospheric conditions, a spectacular sight presented itself: the Gibbous Waning Moon.
Here's a look at how this image was captured and processed:
Capturing the Moment
The moon was artfully framed between two clouds, creating a dramatic and ethereal scene. This photograph was taken using a 130mm f5 telescope paired with a modified Canon t2i camera. To ensure steady tracking of the moon's movement across the sky, a Celestron logic drive motor for right ascension was employed.
The Processing Pipeline
Achieving the final polished image involved a meticulous stacking and editing process. A total of 100 individual photographs were captured. These were then aligned and stacked in Siril using the summation method. This technique helps to reduce noise and enhance the detail of the lunar surface. Finally, Adobe Lightroom was used for the finishing touches, bringing out the full beauty of the captured moon.
This image is a testament to the dedication of astrophotographers who brave all sorts of conditions to bring us closer to the wonders of the cosmos.
