Earth-Directed M4.4 Solar Flare Spotted
Astronomers have detected an M4.4 class solar flare emanating from the active sunspot region AR 4168. The flare occurred on August 5, 2025, at approximately 15:53 UTC.
While the flare itself has been confirmed, scientists are currently awaiting further data to determine if an associated Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) is directed towards Earth. Such events can sometimes cause geomagnetic storms, impacting satellite operations and potentially creating auroral displays.
This observation comes from the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) mission, a key instrument in monitoring solar activity. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available regarding any potential Earthward CME.
