Clinging to Life Under the Stars: A Night Sky Spectacle from an Abandoned Quarry
Last Friday, I ventured to an abandoned quarry, a place where the earth bears the scars of past industry. Yet, even in such stark landscapes, nature finds a way to persevere. Atop the quarry, two trees clung tenaciously to life, their silhouettes etched against the vast, star-dusted canvas of the night sky.
This image is a testament to that resilience, capturing the enduring spirit of life in the face of an unforgiving environment. The stars above, in their silent, celestial dance, provided a magnificent backdrop to this scene of quiet defiance.
To bring this vision to life, a meticulous process of long exposure astrophotography was employed:
- Camera: Sony a6300 (Halpha modified)
- Lens: Viltrox 16mm
- Exposure Details: 9 individual 5-minute exposures, stacked to create the final image.
- Settings: ISO 640, f/2.2
This combination of equipment and technique allowed for the capture of faint starlight and the subtle details of the landscape, creating a truly immersive view of the night sky.
