Journey to the Galactic Core: A Namibian Astrophotography Adventure

The Gear and the Goal
The photographer utilized a Canon EOS 600D camera paired with a Tokina AT-X 116 DX lens and a soft filter to achieve this shot. The data gathered for this image includes:
- Light Frames: 20 frames, each at f/2.8, ISO 1600, with a 15-second exposure.
- Dark Frames: 10 frames to help reduce noise.
- Processing Software: Sequator was used for the image stacking process.
Overcoming the Elements
While the resulting image is a testament to dedication and skill, the journey to capture it wasn't without its hurdles. The photographer was initially unlucky, having booked a location renowned for its pristine dark skies, only to be met with unexpected cloudy and even rainy weather – quite a surprise during what is supposed to be the dry season in the desert! This forced a cancellation of the initial plan and a search for an alternative opportunity to capture this celestial spectacle.

Despite the atmospheric challenges, the patience and persistence paid off. The image beautifully resolves the dense star fields and the glowing core of our galaxy.
