Capturing the North America Nebula: An Astro-Modified Canon 700D's Journey

The Setup and The Sky
The astrophotographer utilized a Samyang 135mm lens, a popular choice for its sharpness and wide aperture. To combat light pollution, a Hoya Star Scape LP Filter was employed. This particular session was conducted under Bortle 8 skies, a significant hurdle for capturing faint deep-sky objects. The effort involved 30 x 120 Sec Lights, accompanied by 20 Darks, Flats, and Biases to minimize noise and correct for optical imperfections.
The Processing Pipeline

- Stacking and Stretching in Siril: The initial integration of the light frames was performed in Siril, a powerful and free astrophotography processing software. - OSC Hubble Pallet in Siril: The original data, likely captured in a single shot color (OSC) format, was then processed using a Hubble Palette script within Siril. - Vibrancy Increase in Photoshop: To further enhance the visual appeal, the vibrancy of the image was boosted in Photoshop. This careful adjustment brings out the rich colors of the nebula without over-saturating the image.
