Capturing the Moon's Surface: A First Mosaic Attempt
This post showcases a remarkable first attempt at creating a detailed mosaic of the Moon. The creator has shared their experience using specific equipment and processing steps to achieve this impressive result.
The Setup
The lunar mosaic was captured using the following equipment:
- Scope: Celestron C6 SCT
- Mount: Celestron AVX
- Camera: ZWO ASI662MC
The Process
This ambitious project involved capturing a total of 16 individual panels, with each panel consisting of a 30-second video recording of the lunar surface. Following data acquisition, the process involved:
- Stacking: Performed using Autostakkert.
- Sharpening: Executed with Wavesharp.
This combination of careful capture and post-processing techniques allowed for the creation of this detailed and visually appealing lunar mosaic, offering a unique perspective on our Moon.
