Capturing the Moon's Detail: A 50% Lunar Portrait
Hello fellow space enthusiasts! I'm thrilled to share my latest lunar capture, a detailed shot of the Moon at approximately 50% illumination. This image highlights the fascinating topography and craters that grace our closest celestial neighbor.
Behind the Shot: Gear and Processing
Bringing you images like this requires a combination of reliable equipment and careful processing. For this lunar portrait, I used the following setup:
- Camera: Canon T3i
- Telescope: Celestron C8
- No Reducer was used for this particular shot.
Acquisition involved capturing approximately 1-minute videos. The magic happened in post-processing where I utilized AutoStakkert 3 to stack the best 25% of both video frames. Further refinement and adjustments were made using Pixlr Editor to bring out the incredible details you see here.
This process allows for the enhancement of planetary features, revealing subtle textures and shadow play that contribute to the overall depth and realism of the final image. It's always a rewarding experience to capture and share these moments from the cosmos.
I hope you enjoy this glimpse of our Moon!
