The Technical Details

The photographer utilized the following settings for this untracked capture:

  • Lens: 24 mm
  • Aperture: F/1.9
  • ISO: 1600
  • Exposure: 15 seconds

To enhance the detail and reduce noise, a total of 51 light frames and 25 dark frames were taken and stacked using Sequator. The post-processing magic happened in Siril, Starnet, Graxpert, and Snapseed, bringing out the intricate details of our galaxy.

The Secret Ingredient: Dark Skies

The location of this photograph is key to its success. Captured in Sarawak, Borneo, the image benefits from incredibly low light pollution, allowing the faint glow of the Milky Way to shine through vividly. This highlights the importance of finding pristine dark sky locations for any astrophotography endeavor.

It's truly inspiring to see such results from a mobile device, and a testament to the beauty that awaits us when we escape the city lights.
