Milky Way Over Summit at Big Bend
Last night, under the pristine skies of Big Bend National Park, a truly spectacular celestial event unfolded. I was fortunate enough to capture the awe-inspiring grandeur of the Milky Way as it stretched across the heavens, perfectly framed above a rugged summit.

This photograph was taken around 3:30 AM, utilizing the incredible capabilities of my Nikon Z6ii camera. The settings were meticulously dialed in to capture the faintest details of our galactic home:
- Camera: Nikon Z6ii
- Exposure: 30 seconds
- ISO: 3200
- Aperture: f/2.8
- Focal Length: 14mm
The resulting image is a testament to the power of good equipment and ideal conditions. The details of the Milky Way, from its luminous core to the subtle dust lanes, are simply epic.
Big Bend's Dark Skies:
Big Bend National Park is renowned for its incredibly dark skies, making it a prime location for astrophotography. Away from the light pollution of urban areas, the true brilliance of the night sky can be appreciated, and as this image shows, the results can be simply unforgettable.
