Capturing the Full Moon: A Brazilian Astrophotographer's Perspective

Astrophotography allows us to witness the cosmos in breathtaking detail, and this recent capture of the Full Moon is no exception. Taken in the Southern Hemisphere, specifically in Brazil on September 9th, this image showcases the lunar surface with remarkable clarity. The photographer refers to this phase as the 'Deer Moon,' a fitting name for this celestial spectacle.

This impressive shot was achieved through a meticulous process involving specialized equipment and expert processing:

• Telescope: A 130mm f5 telescope was used for primary magnification.
• Camera: A modified Canon t2i camera was employed to capture the light.
• Tracking: A Celestron motor logic drive was utilized for precise tracking of the Moon's movement.

The photographer captured a total of 528 individual photographs. These were then processed using Siril, where an alignment and stacking technique was applied. By summing and rejecting 75% of the frames identified as poor quality, 133 sharp images were stacked to create the final result. Final touches and color correction were performed using Adobe Lightroom, bringing out the subtle details of the lunar terrain.
