Capturing the Crescent Nebula (NGC 6888) with the Seestar S30
Hello fellow stargazers! Today, I'm thrilled to share a recent capture of a truly spectacular deep-sky object: NGC 6888, also known as the Crescent Nebula.
This emission nebula, located in the constellation Cygnus, is a fascinating object formed by the strong stellar winds of a Wolf-Rayet star. The intense radiation from this massive star is sculpting the surrounding gas and dust, creating the dramatic shell-like structure we see.
Acquisition Details:
- Telescope/Mount: Seestar S30
- Number of Images: 166
- Exposure Time: 30 seconds per image
- Bortle Scale: 5
Processing:
The raw data was meticulously processed using two powerful applications: Siril for initial stacking and calibration, followed by GraXpert for further enhancement and noise reduction. The goal was to bring out the intricate details and vibrant colors of the nebula while maintaining a natural appearance.
I'm incredibly pleased with the results from the Seestar S30. Its ease of use and impressive imaging capabilities continue to impress, allowing even those under moderate light pollution (like Bortle 5) to capture such breathtaking celestial targets.
I hope you enjoy this glimpse into the universe! Clear skies!
