This breathtaking shot was brought to life through a combination of dedicated equipment and meticulous processing. The photographer utilized a homemade 130mm f5 telescope, a testament to DIY ingenuity in the world of astronomy. The imaging was done with a modified Canon T2i camera, known for its capabilities in capturing detailed celestial objects.

To ensure smooth tracking and sharp images, a Celestron Logic Drive motor was employed for right ascension. The image itself is a composite, created by stacking 40% of 126 captured photos. This stacking technique, performed using the powerful Siril software, helps to reduce noise and enhance detail, bringing out the subtle textures of the lunar surface.

Bringing it All Together

The final touches were applied using Adobe Lightroom, where color balance, contrast, and sharpness were refined to present the moon in its full glory. The result is a crisp and detailed depiction of the lunar crescent, a true testament to the art and science of astrophotography.
