Behold the Almost Entire Veil Nebula!
For a long time, my astrophotography adventures were limited by my equipment. With my trusty C8 telescope, I could only capture a portion of the magnificent Veil Nebula. But with a recent upgrade to a new refractor telescope, the universe opened up, granting me access to almost the entirety of this stunning celestial spectacle!
A Wider Perspective
The difference is truly remarkable. My previous setup restricted me to a smaller field of view, allowing me to only witness a fraction of the Veil's intricate structures. Now, with the new refractor, I can encompass the entire nebula, showcasing its vastness and complexity in a single frame.
Unveiling New Details
But it's not just about seeing more of the nebula. This new perspective has also revealed finer details I could only dream of capturing before. I've even managed to capture some of the dust formations surrounding and within the nebula, adding an extra layer of depth and realism to the image.
The Gear Behind the View
Here's a peek at the equipment that made this shot possible:
- Telescope: AT90EDX with a 1x flattener
- Mount: AM5
- Camera: Nikon Z6 mirrorless camera
- Acquisition: 240-second guided subs, 150 total, plus calibration frames
- Processing: Stacking and initial processing done in Siril, followed by further enhancements in Photoshop.
This image was captured from my backyard in Central New York (CNY). The pursuit of capturing these celestial wonders from our own backyards is a rewarding journey, and with the right tools and patience, incredible results are achievable. It's amazing what you can see when you have the right setup!
