Cannon Beach PNW Summer: A Stargazer's Delight
Oregon’s north beach crown jewel and a permanent fixture of my childhood, Cannon Beach, offers an unparalleled experience during our endlessly mild and bright summer days. This iconic location is a unique blend of nostalgia, beauty, and wonder that truly never gets old.
This particular shot is a testament to the magic that happens when the terrestrial and celestial realms converge. It's a stacked and tracked image, carefully blended to bring out the intricate details of both the landscape and the night sky.
Capturing the Magic
The process involved a meticulous approach to ensure the best possible capture of this stunning scene:
- Sky Exposure: 3 frames at 120 seconds each, ISO 1600, f3.5
- Foreground Exposure: 10 frames at 1/2 second each, ISO 1600, f8, using a twilight focus stack.
- Equipment Used: Canon EOS Ra + Sigma Art 14-24mm f2.8
Seeing the vastness of the universe mirrored in the familiar beauty of Cannon Beach is an experience that grounds and inspires. It’s a perfect reminder of the wonders that await when we look up.
