Alpine Lake Evenings: A Farewell to the Milky Way Core
As August winds down, the celestial ballet shifts, and the magnificent core of our Milky Way galaxy begins its slow descent below the horizon. Before the inevitable storms rolled in, one lucky photographer seized the opportunity for a clear night, capturing the breathtaking beauty of Colorado's alpine lakes bathed in the starlight.
There's an undeniable magic in these quiet Colorado evenings, where the stillness of the alpine lakes reflects the vastness of the cosmos. While we still have a little time to enjoy the Milky Way core, the changing seasons also bring anticipation for new subjects to capture as winter approaches, promising to reveal celestial wonders currently hidden by the summer sky.
The Gear Behind the Magic:
- Camera: Sony a7iv (h-alpha modified)
- Lens: Sony 24mm f/1.4 GM
The Sky Capture:
- A three-panel panorama was created, with each panel consisting of 10 exposures, each 60 seconds long, at f/2.0 and ISO 1600.
The Foreground Capture:
- A six-panel panorama was stitched together. The foreground was captured during the 'blue hour' to ensure a sharp, blur-free image of the landscape, which was then expertly blended with the tracked sky.
This image is a stunning reminder of the beauty that awaits us when we step out under a clear night sky. Keep an eye out for more breathtaking captures from this photographer on Instagram!
