A Glimpse of the Near-Full Moon
Yesterday, the night sky offered a spectacular view of our celestial neighbor, the Moon, in its almost full phase. This breathtaking image was captured from the Southern Hemisphere, offering a unique perspective on this familiar sight.
The Gear Behind the Shot
The photographer utilized a 130mm f5 telescope, providing excellent magnification and light-gathering capabilities. Paired with a modified Canon T2i camera, this setup is ideal for capturing detailed astronomical images.
Processing for Perfection
Bringing this image to its final glory involved a meticulous processing workflow. A total of 251 photographs were aligned, and then 125 of these were stacked using Siril. The quality rejection method in Siril helps to eliminate noise and enhance detail. Finally, Adobe Lightroom was used for final touches, bringing out the subtle nuances of the lunar surface.
This effort results in a clear and detailed image that highlights the beauty of the Moon as it approaches its fullest phase.
