A Lil' Composite: Blending the Blood Moon with Past Memories
This past weekend's celestial event, the 'blood moon,' provided a fantastic opportunity for astrophotographers. I decided to take it a step further and create a unique composite image, blending yesterday's stunning lunar spectacle with some of my older lunar photographs. This project allowed me to experiment with digital editing while celebrating the ever-changing face of our moon.
Behind the Lens and Pixels
All the raw photographic data for this project was captured using a Lumix tz71 camera. The magic really happened in the post-processing phase. I utilized the powerful capabilities of Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop to bring this composite to life.
Specifically, I focused on refining the contrast and brightness of the images to ensure a cohesive look. Cropping the individual moons was also a key step in achieving the desired composition, allowing me to highlight the unique characteristics of each capture.
This kind of project is a wonderful way to revisit past work and integrate it with new experiences, creating something visually striking and personally meaningful. It's a testament to how combining technical skill with artistic vision can elevate astrophotography.
